World Stationery Day
Here at the Post Office Shop we love National Stationery Week and today we celebrate World Stationery Day which celebrates the power of the written word and the art of putting pen to paper.
An array of stationery items are available for next day delivery within our Brand Shops including a wide selection of BiC pens and various stationery items complemented by a range of Notebooks and Notepads from Pukka Pad.
The significance of handwriting has taken on a whole new meaning since 2015 marked the 800th anniversary since the creation of the Magna Carta which is widely regarded as one of the most important written documents in British history.
Amongst the momentous and relevant principles contained within the Magna Carta is the 39th clause which gave all ‘free men’ the right to justice and a fair trial. This handwritten manuscript is a reminder of the extent to which handwriting has stood the test of time.
Indeed, in a recent YouGov poll conducted on behalf of National Stationery Week, 92% of adults said it is important to be able to write by hand and 97% said that they felt it is important for children to still be taught handwriting at school. It is also interesting to note that the research has shown that almost a third (29%) had sent a handwritten letter or note in the previous month.
This year the Post Office Shop is a participating retailer of National Stationery Week and the message loud and clear is that the skill of handwriting remains integral to our everyday lives.
