The Tardis Touches Down In London For The First Ever Doctor Who Festival
Today marks the start of the inaugural Doctor Who Festival which is being held over three days at London’s ExCel Exhibition Centre.
Thousands of Doctor Who fans are expected to attend the event which follows on from the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary celebration also held at London’s ExCel Exhibition Centre back in 2013 to mark half a century of Britain’s favourite Time Lord.
We recalled 50 years of Britain’s most famous doctor in our infographic below documenting many of the notable villains encountered by each Doctor since William Hartnell first played the role.
The popularity of Doctor Who shows no sign of waning, in fact quite the opposite. The first official festival is also being held in Sydney Australia later this month demonstrating the appeal of the sci-fi series way beyond these shores.
Doctor Who first appeared on British TV screens on 23rd November 1963 travelling through time in the instantly recognisable TARDIS and has since flourished to become the world’s longest running science fiction show with a loyal following worldwide in over 200 territories.
Fans descending on the ExCel Exhibition Centre with their Cybermen or Dalek tickets will get the opportunity to meet Peter Capaldi, who is the 12th and current incarnation of the time lord, alongside Jenna Coleman who plays the role of Clara Oswald in the British television series. They will also be joined by Steven Moffatt who is the executive producer of the hugely popular show.
Doctor Who shopping village
As well as the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet some of the cast at the first ever Doctor Who Festival, there will be interactive workshops as well as a shopping village filled with collectors merchandise. For fans unable to make it to the sell-out event, here at the Post Office Shop we sell a range of Doctor Who must have items available for next day delivery.
