Post Office Shop Becomes New Corporate Sponsor of Support Dogs and Thor
The Post Office Shop are delighted to have become a new corporate supporter of Support Dogs and Support Dogs’ Thor.
With our continued commitment to charity foundations and worthy causes that help to improve the lives of others, the Post Office Shop are thrilled to have become a new corporate supporter of Thor, just one of many brilliant specialist assistant dogs at Support Dogs.
About the Support Dogs Charity
Established in 1992, Support Dogs are a registered national charity who are fully dedicated to increasing the independence and quality of life for people with medical conditions by providing those that need it the most with a fully trained, specialist assistant dog.
The charity carries out their efforts in three separate disciplines, which includes:
• Autism assistance dogs for children (aged three to ten years with autism) – trained to ensure the safety of the child and to further help reduce stress in social situations.
• Seizure alert dogs for people with epilepsy – specially trained to provide 100% reliable warnings prior to the risk of someone experiencing an epileptic seizure, allowing those affected to stay in control during an epileptic episode.
• Disability assistance dogs – provided to people who suffer from physical disabilities, with dogs trained to perform tasks which are tailored to their owners needs, providing greater safety and independence.
Support Dogs are also one of the founding members of the charity Assistance Dogs UK, who are known for providing the highest levels of assistance dog training, with every dog at the charity receiving the best in training and welfare standards set by Assistance Dogs International and the International Guide Dogs Federation.
Support Dogs Donations
In 2018, their support dogs provided over 600,000 hours of support to clients and their incredible volunteers were able to donate over 100,000 hours of their time last year also in order to help change lives.
Support Dogs relies entirely on voluntary donations, meaning every penny donated towards their cause is used to provide vital assistance to those who are affected by the most serious of medical conditions.
Donations also help to grow the charity so that they can be there for even more families and individuals in the future.

As part of our new support of Support Dogs, we’re ecstatic to be a corporate supporter of Thor, a Labrador Retriever cross who has changed the lives of a family currently living in Yorkshire.
Thor is just one of many autism assistance dogs that the charity are able to provide to those in need of a canine friend which have been trained to be able to cope with the pressures that autism can bring.
Described as a bit of a ‘water baby’, the dark furred Thor loves to explore many of the fields and the vast countryside near his home, whilst jumping into as many puddles as he can possibly find!
In one case, Thor also even had a go at surfing on one of the family’s trips out to the coast and regularly delights his owners with a happy-go-lucky approach to life whilst providing much-needed support in the moments that the family require it the most.
