Disney DVD Giveaway – Reminiscing About The Wonderful World Of Disney
One of Disney’s animated masterpieces from the past is all set to be brought back to life with the release of Cinderella which makes a welcome return to the big screen today. The original Cinderella in 1950 was based on the novel written by French author Charles Perrault in 1697.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the adaptation of Cinderella features Lily James who stars as the role of Ella as Cinderella in the film where she meets her Prince who is played by Richard Madden.
The story of Cinderella describes how Ella is forced to be a servant to her cruel stepmother and is banned from attending the prince’s lavish event. However, with the help of her fairy godmother, it transpires that Cinderella can make it to the ball after all.
The list of Walt Disney animated masterpieces first dates back to the 1930’s when Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first released in December 1937. Animated features films including Pinocchio, Dumbo and Bambi followed in the 1940’s.
In the same decade that Cinderella was enjoyed by millions of viewers, Peter Pan is another film of the same era which is fondly remembered which was adapted by the novel written by J.M. Barrie. Subsequent decades saw the release of further classic Disney animations including The Jungle Book, Robin Hood as well as The Little Mermaid.
In more recent times, one of the most successful Disney productions of the 1990’s was Aladdin. The film captivated cinema audiences when Jafar, the main antagonist in the story, sought to retrieve the magical lamp containing a genie. Wreck-It Ralph, the story of an arcade game villain is another popular Disney animation which enjoyed notable box office success.
Other box office successes of the modern-era when it comes to Disney animated films have included Frozen which is actually the highest grossing animated film of all time, and Tangled which, like Cinderella tells the story of a lost young princess and was nominated for a number of accolades at the 83rd Academy Awards.
A number of other Disney adaptations are in the pipeline too including The Jungle Book set for release in April 2016 and Beauty and the Beast set to follow a year later.
