Preparing Mail for Last Posting Dates for Christmas 2019

It’s widely known that Christmas poses as one of the busiest times of the calendar year.

With this in mind, it’s vital to ensure your mail is correctly prepared when being sent through the post.

Take a look at a few of these key tips to making sure your mail arrives with its intended recipient safe and secure.

Tip 1 – Address your Letter or Package Correctly

Before you prepare to send your mail, be sure to quickly ask yourself – “Have I included the correct postcode, building or premises address and a return address in case my letter or parcel has to be sent back to me?”.

If not, make sure this information is displayed clearly on the mail item.

If you’re planning to send a letter, the Post Office Shop website contains a wide range of Envelopes to place your mail inside of, including Envelopes by Size and Envelopes by Type.

Should it be a parcel you’re looking to send, then we have an extensive selection of Postal Tubes, Mailing Boxes and other Packaging and Mailing products perfect for UK and International mailing.

Tip 2 – Ensure You’ve Paid the Correct Amount for Postage

Depending on what size your letter or parcel is, it will be subject to a postage fee.

With this, it’s important that the correct fee is calculated for your item, so you should always weigh and measure your parcel or letter before posting it through a Post Box or taking it to your nearest Post Office branch.

Tip 3 – Check your Items are Not Restricted or Prohibited from Being Mailed

There are several items that can’t unfortunately be sent through the Royal Mail postal system.

So to avoid delays or your mail being returned to you, make sure to check which goods and items are considered restricted or prohibited from being mailed in the UK and Internationally here.
