What Will You Be Giving As Your Secret Santa Gift This Year?

Its more than likely that the first present you will be opening this festive season will be your Secret Santa offering from a colleague in the office with almost a third of employees (29 per cent) expecting to take part in a ‘Secret Santa’ according to the survey we’ve recently undertaken.

Whether it’s for the boss you’re trying to impress or a colleague you’ve barely exchanged more than two words to, a misguided present can make for an awkward year ahead!

So, a few simple things you need to remember when it comes to Secret Santa for starters:

  • Follow the rules: there is always one person in the office who decide to ignore the rules and spend more than the limit set but don’t outshine your colleagues because they won’t appreciate it plus you will probably make the recipient feel guilty for not returning the favour
  • Show some creativity: The monetary value of the gift ensures that everyone is on the same lines but that doesn’t mean to say that you can’t shop around and get creative with your gift
  • Research your gift: Instead of staring blankly at the Google search screen, ask around for some advice and find out the hobbies and interests of your colleague concerned, they will appreciate your effort in going the extra mile

According to a recent poll we’ve undertaken, the majority of office workers participating in Secret Santa this year are happy to dig into their pockets and treat a colleague to a present worth between £5 and £8.

So with all this in mind we’ve got some suggestions that we think will match your budget AND impress your colleagues!

For the ladies, one inspired suggestion is a clasp purse decorated with the original design of the world’s first ever first class postage stamp, the Penny Black. And if that wasn’t inspired enough how about a handbag with a twist that is in fact a Post-It Note dispenser?!

So now for the gents, well a safe bet will always be a gift themed around cars or sport so to get the (foot) ball rolling, how about a football heroes presentation pack featuring 11 unique stamps of some of the greatest ever players including George Best and Bobby Moore? If you think cars is more their thing, how about a unique collection of 100 stamps celebrating both vintage and modern cars.

Good luck and happy shopping!
