Preparing your International Christmas Post for Sending

With Christmas posing as one of the busiest times of the year, it’s important to make sure your mail is correctly prepared when being sent through the post. With that in mind, here are a few key tips to making sure your mail arrives with its intended recipient safely and securely.

Addressing your Letter or Package Correctly

Before sending your mail, be sure that you have included the correct postcode, building or premises address and a return address in case your letter or parcel has to be sent back to you. For letters, the Post Office Shop website contains a wide range of Envelopes to place your mail inside of, including Envelopes by Size and Envelopes by Type. For parcels, we have an extensive selection of Postal Tubes, Mailing Boxes and other Packaging and Mailing products perfect for International mailing.

Paying the Correct Amount for Postage

Depending on the size of your letter or parcel, it will be subject to a postage fee. To have the correct fee calculated for your item, you should weigh and measure your parcel or letter before posting it through the Post Box or taking it to your nearest Post Office branch. Check your Items are Not Restricted or Prohibited from Being Mailed

There are several items that can’t unfortunately be sent through the Royal Mail postal system. To avoid delays or your mail being returned to you, check which goods and items are considered restricted or prohibited from being mailed Internationally and in the UK here.
