The Post Office Shop Launches Mobile Friendly Website

We have some good news for our customers who use smartphones and tablets to order from the Post Office Shop. To coincide with Google rolling out a new mobile-focused alogorithim this week, we have launched a mobile friendly version of our own website.

It was 12 months ago that internet usage on mobile devices exceeded PC web browsing for the first time. As one of the most significant trends in internet usage since the web began, the need for businesses of all sizes to embrace the shift has never been greater.

Described as the mobile shopping revolution, the change in how we all browse the web means the need for a mobile-friendly version of an e-commerce offering is absolutely vital in 2015.It is claimed that mobile usage in 2015 reaches far beyond merely checking email or logging onto social media networks too.

And it seems the penny has dropped with SMEs who have noted these trends. In fact a recent study we’ve seen here at the Post Office Shop claims that almost a quarter of small businesses are planning to introduce a mobile optimised site or app in the next 12 months to keep up with demand.

There is no doubting the fact that the mobile device has increasingly become the preferred method of accessing the web – and it’s not just the method of choice for consumers but also for conducting business to business transactions online too.

A slimmed down version of a desktop website with a simple site layout containing all the key information required by a user (albeit without lengthy text and downloadable files which will slow mobile pages), is what users expect to find as the transition to mobile gathers pace.

And having an optimised online presence for mobile users can enable those businesses who adapt to mobile to soon reap the rewards too by seeing significant increases in sales conversions as result!

With the new mobile-focused alogorithm meaning that Google will now rank search results by taking into account how mobile-friendly the website is, it is vital that SMEs understand the importance of developing a mobile strategy.
