Royal Baby Number Three
Today, it has been announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child. The royal baby will be the Queen’s sixth great-grandchild.
The happy royal baby news was announced this morning from Kensington Palace. As with her previous two pregnancies the Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum and so the announcement has been made early. No due date for the royal arrival has been confirmed yet.
Regardless of whether the baby is a boy or girl, it will be fifth in line to the throne. This is because there is no longer a discriminatory male bias to the heir to the throne for any royal baby born after 28th October 2011.
So, if Princess Charlotte welcomes a younger brother, she will remain fourth in line to the throne.
Prince George Starts School
Later this week, Prince George, the eldest of the couple’s two children, starts his first day at school. Thomas’s Battersea, an independent school will welcome the four-year-old prince on Thursday.
His mother has already commented that she doesn’t think George; “has any idea what’s going to hit him”, when he starts this new adventure in his life.
Celebrating Royal Babies at the Post Office Shop
The birth of both Prince George and Princess Charlotte were celebrated with some wonderful collectible coins which you can still add to your collection.
The Royal Baby 2013 Date Stamped Britannia 1oz Silver Coin bears the date 22nd July 2013 to mark the birth of Prince George. In addition, The Royal Birth of Prince George Stamp Cover features a beautiful illustration of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge postmarked with the date of Prince George’s birth.
Back in 2015 the exciting news of the birth of Princess Charlotte was marked with the Princess Charlotte Gold Plated Commemorative Medal and The Royal Birth 2015 Silver Proof £5 Coin. Each of these unique collectible items were produced to mark her birth on 2nd May 2015, and are a lovely way to remember this occasion.
