Post Office Opening Times

For over 300 years there has always been a Post Office. In its original guise as the General Post Office, it covered England and Wales before eventually covering the United Kingdom. Today, people still regularly use their local Post Office to send important mail, from letters to parcels and in this article we take a look at the opening times for Post Offices across the country.

The Post Office has remained an important part of British society with 19% of Brits voting that it was one of the most important buildings for local life in a recent survey. Indeed, 93% of adults in the UK live within 1 mile of a branch with a further 99% being within 3 miles. They also remain popular with the general public with 92% of all adults visiting a branch within 12 months.

Perhaps understandable when considering that Post Offices can be used to not only purchase stamps or send letters and parcels both domestically and internationally but also to buy or renew a passport, receive benefits, state pensions or tax credit payments. On top of this, many local services such as rent and council tax services can also be done in a Post Office, with many branches offering around 170 different services.

Open All Days Of The Weekend

There are over 11,500 branches located nationwide, with many of these being open on Sundays as well to increase their availability. The good news for anyone who perhaps works more unusual hours is that there are many Post Offices that are open an extra 60,000 hours per week with some branches being open from 7:30am to 10:30pm on weekdays.

These flexible working hours have been introduced to accommodate people who cannot reach a Post Office during their traditional hours. A large number of branches are also open for a certain number of hours on Saturday as well, ensuring that the Post Office is always there when needed.

To find out where your local Post Office branch is along with the opening hours it has, take a look at the Post Office branch finder. This search engine will inform you of all opening hours for your branch including their Saturday hours and whether or not it opens on Sunday.
