New Stamp Releases for 2017
The Royal Mail’s 2017 Special Stamp programme is set to showcase the “Best of British”.
A wide range of subjects feature in this year’s schedule. It includes some of the greatest racehorses from the past six decades and also the beautiful birds that herald spring and summer in the UK.
Although the full year’s programme hasn’t yet been announced, there are already some exciting releases to look forward to. They commemorate anniversaries and celebrate events relevant to UK heritage and life.
Here is a selection of Special Stamps you can look forward to:
Windsor Castle is the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle and an official residence of HM The Queen. In a selection of special stamps, it is celebrated with iconic views of both the interior and exterior of the castle.
One stamp in the set features an image of the world-famous Round Tower. This stunning piece of architecture has dominated the Berkshire skyline for over 800 years. The issue launches in February and follows on from the Buckingham Palace stamp release in 2014.

Racehorse Legends features eight champion horses that achieved their greatest wins on UK race courses over the last six decades. The stamp issue features original artwork commissioned by Royal Mail of four flat racers and four national hunt horses. These remarkable horses are captured in action during the course of their iconic wins.
This issue includes the much loved 1989 Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner Desert ‘Dessie’ Orchid. This stamp set ties in nicely with the Grand National. It is due for release in the same week that this classic event takes place.

The Songbirds issue in May presents 10 beautiful birds that herald spring and summer in the UK. This stamp issue includes The Wren. It is the most common UK breeding bird and a regular visitor to our gardens throughout the year.
