How Much Fun Can You Have With A Crayon? The Mind Boggles
As the nights draw in as winter approaches, what better way to keep the kids amused at home than by letting them explore their creativity using the ever reliable crayon?
Colour wax crayons are perfect for allowing children of all ages to explore their creative side using a range of bright and attractive colours. And what’s more kids can enjoy all the fun of colouring using their creative licence without parents worrying about the walls and carpet of the house becoming permanently marked when accidents occur.
Indeed, Crayola has been inspiring artistic creativity in children for more than 100 years since the first box of Crayola crayons rolled off the assembly line in 1903 and there is even now a Crayola themed attraction in honour of these iconic crayons in Pennsylvania, USA.
Testament to the unwavering appeal of the crayon, Crayola apparently makes 650 crayons per minute and up to 13.5 million crayons a day! In fact Crayola makes 3 billion crayons a year, that’s enough to circle the world six times. Wow!
And Crayola has inspired some wonderful results in a way we wouldn’t even have thought of – by creating crayon sculptures! Perhaps not quite the piece of art children would be capable of producing without some practice, we’re nevertheless amazed by some of the sculptures produced by artist HQ Tran including R2D2 from Star Wars which is one of our favourite creations.
Whilst this impressive sculpture may take more than a little practice to emulate, we think the Crayola guide for parents will certainly help keep kids of all ages amused and there’s even a wide range of colouring templates to download as a starting point. There are plenty of designs to choose from so just make sure you have ample supplies of your inks and toners so you can print them out and get the kids started!
