Brighten Up Blue Monday
Today is Blue Monday, apparently the most miserable day of the year. A combination of post-Christmas debt, dark mornings and cold weather catches up with us all on the third Monday of the year.
The sceptical amongst you may say this is all just a cunning marketing ploy. Indeed, the concept of Blue Monday was invented in 2005 by travel agents trying to encourage us all to book our summer holidays. Yet, over ten years later, psychologists believe we actually do think that our mood is negatively affected on the third Monday of the year.
So, now is the time to turn Blue Monday into Happy Monday. In 2018, there will be 53 Mondays rather than 52, so let’s embrace them.
Here is a selection of reasons why we should be happy on a Monday.
- It is less likely to rain on a Monday than on any other day of the week. This could be due to man-made pollution decreasing over the weekend.
- A third of us do our best work on a Monday, particularly on a Monday morning.
- Monday is the best day of the week to buy a car. As most sales are made over the weekend, you are more likely to get offered a discount on Monday when sellers expect less sales.
- Want to lose a few pounds? Start your health kick on a Monday and you will be more likely to succeed.
Whilst we can’t do much about the dark mornings and nights at this time of year, investing in good lighting can help. If you suffer with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) adjustable mood lighting imitates natural outdoor light to help you deal with the symptoms.
The Rexel ActiVita Daylight Strip Plus Lamp includes three mood settings – Daylight mode, Cool mode for working and Warm mode for reading and relaxing. In addition, each mode also has four brightness settings for you to set for your own preferences. It also has a USB port so you can charge up your mobile devices, making this desk lamp an essential addition to any home or office space.
Did You Know?
YouTube was born on a Monday? Be honest, can you imagine a life without “lol cats” to brighten your day?
