An Extra Hour This Weekend
It is time to get ready for the dark nights as we put the clocks back an hour this weekend. British Summer Time ends at 2am on Sunday 30th October as we return to Greenwich Mean Time.
With an extra hour to enjoy this weekend, here are a few ideas on how you can make the most of it.
What better time to enjoy a guilt free, well deserved lie in? To make sure your sleep is undisturbed by the tick-tock of a clock, here at the Post Office Shop we have a range of silent sweep clocks including the Acctim Controller Silent Wall Clock.
If you are little more forgetful about changing your clocks on time, the Acctim Parona Radio Controlled Wall Clock is the one for you. It keeps accurate time without you having to take the clock off the wall. Instead, this radio controlled wall clock is controlled via a radio transmitted signal from Anthorn in Cumbria.
Do Some Exercise
No excuses, you have an extra hour! Whether its walking the dog, a jog around the local park or getting on your bicycle, get active. According to the NHS Choices Live Well campaign, adults aged between 19-64 should complete around 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. Research has also shown that exercising in cooler weather can help burn more calories.
As the nights get darker and colder we all crave hearty meals. Therefore, this is the time to start a healthy habit. Anything to compensate for those mounts of mashed potato and sticky toffee pudding that get us through the winter.
Go Leaf Crunching
All the colours of Autumn are at their best right now. Why not take an hour this Sunday to appreciate the great outdoors? A family walk at this time of year is such fun. Crunching through the amber hues of fallen leaves and enjoying the changing colours as the sunlight turns to dusk.
Children can collect fallen leaves to create pictures and collages when they get back home. Our range of Adhesives includes child friendly Pritt Sticks, perfect for sticking leaves onto paper.
With Christmas just around the corner, it is a good time to declutter your home. Pack away your summer clothes to make way in your wardrobe for winter woollies, hats and scarves. Clean out your study or get the kids to tidy their rooms (if you ask very nicely).
For personal belongings and paper work you want to keep, the StoreStack range of storage boxes is the perfect decluttering solution.
Go Offline for an Hour
Forget your smartphone, social media messages and go back to the simpler things in life. Read a book or write a letter. In our recent article The Joy of Writing we discussed how writing, doodling even colouring in is good for you and can help boost your IQ.
So, get a pen and notebook and unleash your inner creativity for that extra hour.
